The Xbox 360 was the best-selling console in November with 1.26 million units sold, according to Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg. That, Greenberg says, is “nearly 2x all other consoles” and “Wii U+Wii combined”.

Meanwhile, on the software front, the top ten best-selling games in November were as follows:

Rank Title System Publisher
01. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 360, PS3, PC, Wii U Activision Blizzard
02. Halo 4 360 Microsoft
03. Assassin’s Creed III 360, PS3, Wii U, PC Ubisoft
04. Just Dance 4 Wii, 360, Wii U, PS3 Ubisoft
05. Madden NFL 13 360, PS3, Wii, PSV, Wii U Electronic Arts
06. Skylanders Giants Wii, 360, PS3, 3DS, Wii U Activision Blizzard
07. Need for Speed: Most Wanted PS3, 360, PSV, PC Electronic Arts
08. NBA 2K13 360, PS3, Wii, PSP, Wii U, PC Take 2
09. WWE 13 360, PS3, Wii THQ
10. FIFA Soccer 13 360, PS3, Wii, PSV, 3DS, Wii U, PSP Electronic Arts

While November saw the release of the usual suspects such as Call of Duty and Halo, industry revenue dropped by 11%. However, NPD analyst Liam Callahan notes, November represented the “smallest year-over-year decrease we have seen for dollar and unit sales so far this year”.

Meanwhile, in the case of the Wii U, Callahan says that the device brought in “more dollars” than the Wii launch in November 2006, owing to its higher price. Wii U brought in 21% more revenue with an average price that’s 35% higher than the Wii. “Comparing Wii sales from November 2011 to Wii sales combined with Wii U sales in November 2012, dollar sales increased by 76%,” Callahan shares.

He also points out that the Nintendo DS was the only platform to see an increase in hardware sales over November 2011. This is likely due to aggressive Black Friday deals on the Nintendo DS, as Nintendo themselves pointed out recently.
