Forget Sing Party, Wii Karaoke U Has Over 90,000 Songs

Sing Party, one of the Wii U launch titles, has an odd mix of oldies and "Call Me Maybe." Japan clearly has the superior karaoke program since Wii Karaoke U gives players access to over 90,000 songs. Your Mii can take the stage while other players use Wii remotes to clap and shake maracas. It’s kind of like being in a karaoke box at home.

Wii Karaoke U is a subscription game. If you want to sing for an hour it’ll cost you 100 yen. A 24 hour ticket is 300 yen. You can also purchase an extended 30 day ticket for 1,000 yen ($12) or spend 2,000 yen ($24) for 90 days of access. Tickets get users access to the huge library of songs.

Nintendo will also sell a microphone and trial disk set for 2,940 yen ($36). The disc lets users pick 50 songs out of 10,000 on the disc and can sing their heart out for 31 days. You can’t use the trial disc after the month ends, but you can give it to a friend to use in their Wii U.
