Ubisoft expect to achieve a record second-half performance for their ongoing fiscal year, chairman and CEO, Yves Guillemot, said today. This is owing to a strong slate of upcoming titles across various consoles.
“First-week sell-through sales for Assassin’s Creed III are estimated at over 3.5 million units, representing a year-over-year increase of more than 100 percent,” Guillemot revealed. “Just Dance 4 is performing in line with our expectations and Far Cry 3 has achieved among the best playtest scores in Ubisoft’s history, confirming the game’s outstanding quality.”
Ubisoft also expect a strong launch for their early titles on Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U console, such as ZombiU and Rayman Legends.
Finally, Ubisoft feel that momentum will be further buoyed “by the trends in the online and digital segments”. The company revealed that they were the #4 independent publisher in the United States for the first nine months of 2012 with 6.4% of the total market share. In Europe, they were #3 with 6.9% of the total market share.
Due to strong performance, Ubisoft have revised their sales and operating income estimates for the full fiscal year.
The company’s sales forecast has increased to €1,200 million – €1,260 million (previously: €1,160 million – €1,200 million). Meanwhile, the operating income forecast is now at €70 million – €100 million (previously: €70 million – €90 million).
