After an image from PC Gamer popped up with Gears of War box art and the Games For Windows bar over the box speculation begun that Gears was going to be a PC game. Gamerscoreblog explains that’s not exactly the case.
“Here’s what happened: These images were created using draft templates for the Games for Windows box art and a variety of Microsoft Game Studios cover images. Gears of War was accidentally included by the artist as one of the MGS titles used as examples to show what our retail setup would look like. This DOES NOT indicate a confirmation that Gears of Wars will be a Games for Windows title — it was a concept image created by a concept artist, nothing more.”
Is Gears of War not coming to Windows? They didn’t say that either. Instead all that was really said was the picture is not a confirmation of the Gears moving to Windows. Let’s think for a second, Gears of War sold a million copies worldwide after two weeks and 850,000 unique players signed online to play. Obviously, Gears of War has been a huge success for Microsoft Game Studios. While Microsoft has nothing to announce about Gears coming to PCs now, it nearly guaranteed to come out to PCs at some point in the future.
