Minor woes with Playstation 3 backward compatibility

This article is over 17 years old and may contain outdated information

Now that the Playstation 3 is out in Japan Sony released an online database of backwards compatible games. Nearly all of the games from the PS1 and PS2 library work with out problems, except they are all missing force feedback since the Six Axis controller leaves that out. Also any games that require the PS2 hard drive (Final Fantasy XI and DJ Box I’m looking at you) won’t work with the Playstation 3. Granted that is a few games, but after looking at the list there are a few other games with bugs. Gran Turismo 4 can black out after the title screen and you can’t save in Square-Enix’s lost title, Code Age Commanders. Devil May Cry has occasional freezing, Disgaea / Phantom Brave suffer from some graphical glitches with the on screen characters and Xenosaga Episode II has minor problems with the opening movie. With hundreds of Playstation titles out the problems are miniscule and there is always hope that Sony will fix these issues with a firmware upgrade.
