Someone inside Capcom must believe you can’t release a Wii game without motion controlled mini-games because the home version of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes has tons of them. When you need a break from fighting you can practice throwing fireballs with Ryu, shoot asteroids with Saki and snap pictures of Viewtiful Joe. The way Capcom is going it looks like each playable character could get their own custom mini-game.
Here’s a run down of the announced mini-games in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom so far.
Intense Training: Scorching Hadoken – shake the remote the remote when the gauge fills up to hit objects with a blazing blast of spirit energy.
Galactor Base Underwater Assault – Use the remote like a light gun and shoot Galactors operatives. Watch out for fellow hero characters like Yatterman and Chun Li. If you hit them you get a penalty.
AK Extermination Mission – Control the vital suit in an original vertical scrolling shooter based in the Lost Planet universe and shoot some Akrid.
Waldaster UFO Giant Invasion – Shake the remote to boost Tekkaman’s speed. The further Tekkaman travels the more points you get.
Super Throw – Help muscle man Alex throw a car by spinning the remote and timing a button press so the remote in the red zone. It’s like shot put, but with family sedans.
G3 Edition Test Flight – Fly through the rings to collect points. If you feel like Jun is flying too fast you can slow her speed down.
Destroy the Asteroid Field – Saki, equipped with her laser rifle, needs to shoot as many asteroids as she before time runs out. This totally looks like it’s going to be a light gun style mini-game too.
Viewtiful Shot – Capture speedy Viewtiful Joe showing off in three photos. You earn points for successfully getting Joe in a frame.
Reversal Strike King – Time a remote swing with a power meter to throw a ball and hit a far away scoreboard.
Just in the nick of time Dorombo – da koron (a catch phrase from Omotchama) – Collect treasure to get points, but watch out for falling bombs dropped by other players.
And here’s a quick list of confirmed characters in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom without mini-games… yet.
Tatsunoko side: Yatterman, Casshern, Karas, Polymar, Gold Lightan, and Hakushon Daimao.
Capcom side: Mega Man Volnutt, Roll, Chun-Li, Morrigan, Batsu, and Soki.
Looking over the list, about half of the cast in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom have mini-games. Some key characters like Yatterman and Mega Man fall in the group without mini-games so it’s pretty likely Capcom has more mini-games to announce.
Update: JC over at Nintendo Wii Fanboy points out Mega Man, Chun-Li, Gold Lightan, Polymar, Yatterman, and Soki have mini-games too. Poor Karas, he doesn’t have a mini-game yet :(.
