The Super Spy & Shock Troopers Hit Japan’s Virtual Console

While Virtual Console games come to the West once in a blue moon, Japan gets them monthly. May’s list has three games: Shock Troppers, Ganbare Goemon Gaiden: The Gold Pipe that Vanished, and The Super Spy.

The Super Spy was made for NeoGeo when beat ’em ups were all the rage. SNK’s spin on the genre was changing the viewpoint to a first person perspective. In addition to jabs and sidekicks, players can also use weapons like a knife and machinegun.

 

Shock Troopers is also available for PlayStation 3 via the NeoGeo Station library. Here’s a look at SNK’s run and gun shooter.
