It’s rare for Siliconera to cover eroge, but we’re going to make a rare exception in this case. Some of you may recall that, in 2010, MangaGamer licensed adult strategy RPG, Koihime Musou, and took the character voices out of the game for its English release.
Citing high licensing fees as a barrier, MangaGamer promised to invest the extra cost required to put the voices back in the game if it sold a certain number of copies. For over a year, there were no concrete indications that this would ever come to pass. Then, this week, MangaGamer announced that they’ve licensed the voicework for the game and are adding it back in.
“Though it was a long, hard road getting to this point, we’re proud to make the excellent voice cast of Koihime Musou available at long last,” a MangaGamer statements reads. “Now everyone can experience the game with all the voices in their full glory.”
The statement goes on to list the numerous voice artists involved with the game and adds: “We’d also like to give a big thanks to all the fans out there who helped make this possible with their support.”
So, a hearty congratulations to MangaGamer for hitting their milestone and coming through. Hard copies of the game (with voicework included) can be purchased at online store, Jlist, and a download version on MangaGamer’s own website. Now, if only more people would buy Kara no Shoujo so we could get the sequel, too…
