A motion sensitive, wireless Playstation 3 pad runs for 5,000 yen ($42) in Japan. The PS3 supports seven Six Axis controllers wirelessly, but you can also plug in a controller directly into the console’s USB port to charge it. Each charge lasts up to 30 hours. Comparatively the Wii remote costs $39.99 and the analog nunchuk attachment is an extra $19.99.

Both models of the PS3 come with a hard drive, but no ports for PS2/PS1 memory cards. If you want to load up old Suikoden save files you’re going to need to spring for a USB memory card adaptor for 1,500 yen ($13). Maybe some crafty homebrew wizard will write up a program so this can be used on a computer as well as the PS3.
The Blu ray DVD remote costs an extra 3,600 yen ($30). Since the PS3 controller is wireless is there any real reason to get this? Also the remote comes out weeks after the PS3 launch on December 7. By the time this comes out wont most users already adapt to using the PS3 controller.
