Sony plans to add a new and killer feature to the PSP if you’re into co-op games like Monster Hunter Freedom. Ad Hoc Party for PlayStation Portable Beta version will launch on October 30. This service lets users enjoy cooperative PSP games like Monster Hunter Freedom with people that aren’t in front of them. Ad Hoc Party uses the PlayStation 3 (note: not the old 20GB PS3) as a node to connect players. On the same day Capcom plans to release Monster Hunter Portable 2G as a Greatest Hits equivalent game in Japan for the dozen or so people who haven’t picked it up.
Could Capcom be waiting for Sony Computer Entertainment America to announce Ad Hoc Party before they reveal Monster Hunter Freedom Unite?
Also coming out in October in Japan is a native version of the PlayStation Store on the PSP. The timing is perfect since Sony will start selling *every* first party game as a cheaper downloadable version on the PlayStation Store and in a retail package on the simultaneously. Even Western developed games like Secret Agent Clank and Resistance: Retribution are getting this treatment in Japan.
