When we last spoke with Falcom president, Toshihiro Kondo, he told us that Falcom would be discussing a western release of Ys IV re-imagining, Ys Celceta: Sea of Trees, with Xseed’s president.

Perhaps plans for a western release of Sea of Trees have already been cemented, as, in a recent interview with Gamasutra, Kondo says: “We’re hoping the Western audiences will really enjoy our new PlayStation Vita Ys game, Celceta no Jukai, and we’re putting a lot of effort into it.”

Kondo also says that releasing the Ys games in America gives Falcom a better understanding of which parts of their games are lacking in effort. The company has been buying development equipment from various platform holders, and is looking to expand to devices other than PSP and Vita as well.

Ys Celceta: Sea of Trees will use a battle system similar to Ys Seven, and will explain how Adol became an adventurer.
