Resident Evil Remake Wiimake Is Currently "Japan only"

The Gamecube remake of Resident Evil 1 is coming to the Wii on December 25. Did you see the scan? Good, but as of now it’s not in Capcom USA’s schedule. Christian Svensson, Vice President of Strategic Planning & Business Development, went on record at the Capcom Forums with, “At the moment, like Zero, this is Japan only. That could change but that’s the current situation.” Unsurprising news considering Capcom USA passed on publishing Resident Evil Zero on the Wii. It doesn’t look like you’re going to be missing out on much either since Resident Evil on the Wii doesn’t offer anything new  except for Wii remote control.

While you might be groaning about another quick Resident Evil port from Capcom releasing Resident Evil Zero on the Wii made decent cash for Capcom. Svensson explains, “In Japan, Zero sold well indicating that many people have never played the title and there is demand for it. This project is a reaction to the sale of Zero.” Realizing that near direct ports of backwards compatible Gamecube games sold “well” and the Okami Wii-make didn’t sell like hot cakes is a sobering thought.
