Disaster: Day of Crisis is suddenly finished. Japan was supposed to get the game in July before it was abruptly delayed so Monolith Soft could work on it. Apparently, the work didn’t take too long since Nintendo of Europe plans to release it on October 24. Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Japan have yet to announce a similar target for the survival action game.
At least we know a little more about Monolith Soft’s first Wii game. Raymond Bryce, a retired marine, isn’t just trying to survive the day. He has to stop a terrorist group called surge from pilfering nuclear weapons under the diversion of an earthquake. Disaster’s action sequences are compared to an on-rails shooter and the screenshot above makes it look like a portion of Disaster’s 23 stages will be similar to a light gun game. The icon in the top right corner is a pair of lungs. You have to make sure Raymond has fresh air to breathe and search for food to keep his stamina up. There are some interesting ideas here reminiscent of two Irem developed PlayStation games, but Nintendo’s silence to spontaneous news about Disaster: Day of Crisis make me wary.
