Sony Computer Entertainment Japan just announced a trio of PSP-3000 bundles and inadvertently announced release dates for their key PSP games this holiday season. Dissidia: Final Fantasy is scheduled to be in stores on December 18, a few weeks after Patapon 2 Don Chaka sees a release on November 27. Similar to Bleach: Soul Carnival, Patapon 2 Don Chaka will be distributed as a retail UMD game and a downloadable title simultaneously. A boxed copy costs 4,980 yen ($46) while a PSN download is about ten bucks cheaper at 3,800 yen ($35). The PSP-3000 hardware bundle costs 23,800 yen ($220). So, I guess Sony is going to do dual releases for most of their first party games in Japan now? I wonder when will Sony test the same strategy in other regions.
