AM3 is on the right track with a legal Nintendo DS video, manga, and book download service. However, no one really seems to care that DS Vision exists yet. Blame the R4 or the lack of content, but the DS Vision service started with a whimper instead of a bang. Coca-Cola seems pleased with it since they are about to launch a promotion with their Qoo (that’s “coo”) soft drink, a brand with a popular orange drink directly marketed to kids. Qoo will open a contest page on August 18 where people can register to win one of the Qoo Original DS Vision starter kits.
This starter kit is less sophisticated than the official DS Vision bundle since you get a 512 MB microSD card with AM3’s paid package. The free Qoo bundle only comes with a 128 MB microSD card. It’s free though and limited to 500 pieces which means it’s bound to be a collectable item. Qoo also has plans to distribute nutritional advice with their cat mascot over the DS Vision service too. It’s unclear if this is going to be an actual game or if this is just a series of videos. A game would be interesting since AM3 hasn’t released any downloadable games for the DS Vision service yet.
