The localized version of Final Fantasy IV DS is coming out next week in North America and we gave it a lengthy hands-on. Actually, two hands-on sessions, if you include the mini-feature with some of the tricks the bosses learned for the Nintendo DS remake.
When I met up with Square Enix I asked if there was anything I didn’t know about the localized version of the game. Recently, Square Enix has been adding extra features like stylus support in Final Fantasy Tactics A2 and new challenges in Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings. I didn’t expect to discover anything substantial, but I found out a neat trick. The North American version of Final Fantasy IV DS includes the French, German, Italian, and Spanish text from the European version of the game. You can access other languages by changing the language in the menu setting of your DS.
I wonder if any other Square Enix games on the DS are privy to the hardware language trick.
