A few weeks ago, we unearthed something called Kinect Fun Labs for the Xbox 360. Today, Microsoft discussed this item at length during their E3 media briefing, complete with an on-stage demonstration.

Kinect Fun Labs is like a Kinect app store of sorts. Fun Labs itself adds the ability to scan objects into Kinect and create avatars using the Kinect camera via a “gadget” dubbed Kinect Me. It also adds finger-tracking functionality, and allows you to modify photos that you take with the Kinect camera. You can then share these via Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

The conference also revealed what Kinect Googly Eyes is. This is a a gadget that allows you to place googly eyes on an item and use your voice and movement to create a puppet show with it.

Microsoft say that new gadgets will be added to Fun Labs over time. Each app within Kinect Fun Labs will have its own achievements. Kinect Fun Labs is out today on Xbox Live, and Microsoft are offering it as a free download.
