Now that patch 1.17 for Final Fantasy XIV is out, it’s time for 1.18. Producer, Naoki Yoshida, recently put up a forum post detailing some of the additions and improvements you can hope to see in future Final Fantasy XIV updates, using a handy tracking chart. You can skim through that at the link above.
“1.18 will see levequest balancing go into full swing, starting with revisions centered on rewards,” Yoshida says. “As for crafting and gathering, we’re tweaking existing recipes and adding brand-new ones for crafter gear ahead of the summer. I’m pleased to say we’ve concluded our feasibility study for the Materia crafting system (though the name is still tentative), and will soon hammer out the details for the UI and start working on the data.”
You an also expect to see a new job system, according to Yoshida. A proper job system, he emphasizes, not simply a renaming of classes. Other improvements will include an in-game achievement system, and new modes of transport. Yoshida mentions that the team has been giving a lot of thought to Chocobos as well.
A battle with the primal, Ifrit, is coming as well, Yoshida says. Furthermore, in the future, you can expect to see more primals in the game.
