Dr. Lautrec, the protagonist of Konami’s Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights, might dress like Professor Layton, but he doesn’t act like him. While Layton tends to be quite the gentleman, Lautrec doesn’t trouble himself with concerns of right and wrong.

Konami Europe describe the 19th century doctor as a “combative figure,” unpopular at the university he teaches, his unorthodox attitude reflected in his immoral approach to solving puzzles. His young assistant, Sophie, is what helps keep the good (bad?) doctor in check.

Forgotten Knights will have 3D solutions to puzzles, Konami mention. You’ll be able to scrutinize objects from different angles, as well as zoom in and out of scenery to compare it to your map. Cutscenes in the game will be displayed in 3D as well.

Like Layton, Dr. Lautrec, too, has rivals in the form of other professors who will try to hinder his quest. One of them is revealed to be the member of a notorious crime gang.

Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights takes place in a 19th century Paris. Europeans will be able to get their hands on the Nintendo 3DS game in Summer 2011.
