Each expansion for the Pokemon TCG tends to have a certain theme or element that makes it noteworthy, and the draw for Scarlet & Violet Journey Together is Trainer’s Pokemon. These are special types of cards in which a specific iconic character from the games will also be mentioned, signifying this is their particular Pokemon. Some of the cards confirmed for this set are Hop’s Zacian ex, Iono’s Bellibolt ex, Lillie’s Clefairy ex, and N’s Zoroark ex.

It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen cards like this in the game. One of the best examples is the Gym Heroes expansion, which debuted in Japan in 1998. That set featured ones based on the original Pokemon game. So when you bought packs, you might get ones like Brock’s Onix, Misty’s Psyduck, or Sabrina’s Mr. Mime.

The Pokemon Company International also already mentioned how many of certain types of cards we can expect. There will be the four aforementioned Trainer’s Pokemon ex cards. There will also be 16 standard ex ones. 11 will be illustration rare ones, six will be special illustration rares, and three will be hyper rare gold etched.

Here is how the expansion pack booster packs will look:

Pokemon TCG Pocket is available on mobile devices worldwide and will get Scarlet & Violet Journey Together on March 27, 2025, while physical copies of the expansion will be sold for the trading card game on March 28, 2025.
