How to Get the Marmaduke Battle Pet in WoW

Marmaduke is an adorable free Battle Pet introduced in WoW‘s Siren Isle update. Unlike most secret pets in World of Warcraft, Marmaduke is easy to obtain, only requiring a simple questline and a hidden item. Here’s everything you need to know to get your hands on this good boy.

Before you can obtain Marmaduke in World of Warcraft, you must have completed the following quests:

• The Radiant Vault (up to unlocking the Vault)
• The Tattered Journal
• A Group Effort
• Laid to Rest At Last

You can safely skip to “How to find a Well Loved Squeaky Toy” section if you’ve already completed these. Otherwise, read on!

All Marmaduke prerequisite quests in World of Warcraft

Before you can start the quest required to obtain Marmaduke, you must first gain access to The Forgotten Vault through “The Radiant Vault” quest. This quest is part of the main Siren Isles Campaign, just before you repair Cyrce’s Circlet.

Tattered Journal location

If you already picked up the Tattered Journal while you were in the Vault, you saved yourself some time. If not, go to The Sacred Hollow (44.55, 22.75) and click the Singing Tablet to enter The Forgotten Vault. From here, head to the end of the Vault and click the Tattered Journal to begin “The Tattered Journal.”

“Scattered To The Winds” Journal Page locations

Head back to the main camp and hand in the Tattered Journal to Stellin Verasa to begin “Scattered To The Winds.” This quest has you collect five pages around Siren Isle marked on your map. Be sure to pick up a Go-Pack from Sally to make traversal a breeze.

“A Group Effort” and “Laid To Rest At Last”

Once you’ve collected each Journal Page, hand the quest in to begin “A Group Effort.” This straightforward quest tasks you with talking to three NPCs around the camp: Alts, Ricket, and Skitter.

With “A Group Effort” complete, pick up the final quest, “Laid To Rest At Last.” Your final task in this questline is to travel to the inn marked on your map and deliver the Tattered Kul Tiran Journal to the grave outside. After you’ve done this, head back to camp and hand in the quest!

How to find the Well Loved Squeaky Toy

Once “Laid To Rest At Last” has been completed, a Well Loved Squeaky Toy will spawn on the top floor of the inn you delivered the journal to. You’re looking for a blue duck behind the furthest bed, directly beside where you found the Faded Journal Page. Collecting the Well Loved Squeaky Toy allows you to interact with Marmaduke, so let’s find him.

How to find Marmaduke in WoW

Marmaduke has no static location and wanders between the inn and the base camp. I found him at /way 46.87, 48.06 by using the macro “/target Marmaduke.” Once you find him, click on him and select <Give Marmaduke the Well Loved Squeaky Toy>. Doing this causes him to bark and disappear, like all dogs do. Don’t worry; he’s waiting for you back at camp. Note: Marmaduke will not spawn during a storm.

Return to camp to find Marmaduke sitting near a telescope east of the central table. Accept the quest “Homeward Bound to Safer Shores,” which requires you to “pet the goodest boy.” Click on Marmaduke and select <Pet Marmaduke> to complete the quest and receive the Marmaduke Battle Pet!

Like most unique pets in World of Warcraft, you can only have one Marmaduke. This meant I had to vendor him for 30 gold to write this guide, and I am so sorry.

Typing /love while targeting Marmaduke causes a heart to appear above his head, while typing /cheer will make him bark and wag his tail. Adorable!
