Best Solo Carry Heroes in Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals is a revolutionary hero shooter revitalizing a genre that had previously been dominated by long-time titles like Overwatch and Valorant. Rivals is promising to change the way hero shooters are played, but it houses plenty of familiar concepts. Playing with friends is advised to ensure a better time, but maybe you’re the lone-wolf type looking to make a name for yourself in competitive matchmaking. Maybe your friend group needs a ringer, a wildcard player that can pick up the slack for everyone else. You want to be a solo carry. You’re in luck! Marvel Rivals is chock-full of powerful options for players looking to stand out. Here are some of the best solo carry heroes in Marvel Rivals.

Venom

The absolute, cheeked-up beefcake of Marvel Rivals, Venom is a dangerous force to reckon with. An aggressive vanguard with a strong mobility option, Venom is built to dive bomb into a crowd of enemies with Frenzied Arrival, wrap them in the movement impairing Cellular Corrosion, and swing wildly at his targets. The lower Venom’s health gets, the more bonus health his Symbiotic Resilience grants him, making it a full-team effort to bring him down. Once he’s done enough, Venom can swing back out of the fight, recover his health, and dive back in.

As far as solo carries go, Venom is an easy pick. His high sustainability makes him a constant presence in team fights. As Venom, you’ll likely pick up KO after KO just by applying pressure to the enemy’s backline. Your very presence will force enemy teams to retreat and deal with you- but with a health pool larger than most other vanguards, you can waltz right out of danger. Keep in mind, carrying with Venom isn’t the explosive, burst heavy type of carry you might be used to seeing. He’s a persistence hunter; focus on disrupting enemy positions and keep an eye on any isolated opponents.

The Punisher

What Punisher lacks in defensive abilities he makes up for in pure offense. He comes pre-equipped with two different. Weapons. He has a turret with a considerable firing rate and damage output. He has a couple of mobility options that allow him to escape from a sticky situation with good foresight. Unlike other heroes, Punisher’s abilities don’t mesh with one another. True to the lore, however, his strength is more about a varied arsenal and good accuracy. This makes Punisher a perfect solo carry choice for players who are used to playing more traditional shooters, or need something consistent and straightforward.

The Punisher is a problem-solver. Flying enemies like Iron Man and Storm are picked off with his Adjudication rifle. Melee heroes trying to close the gap can be spaced with Scourge Grenade, and then whittled down with his Deliverance shotgun. On defense, Punisher’s Culling Turret can be placed a great distance away from a teamfight, and rain down on his opponents. The turret can also be used to lay down suppressing fire, pushing enemies away from the point or forcing them to take a disadvantageous route through the map. His damage output is so great, that even meatier vanguards like the Hulk can be shredded down into Bruce Banner. Punisher’s ultimate ability increases his firing rate and damage, and once it gets going, it’s hard to stop. A well-timed Punisher ult from a direction the enemy isn’t expecting is a great way to score some Aces. This is why The Punish is, without a doubt, one of the best solo carry heroes in Marvel Rivals.

Winter Soldier

Similar to the Punisher, Winter Soldier is another hero built around awesome firepower and relentless pursuit of his targets. Winter Soldier’s kit works seamlessly together to skip reload animations and apply crowd control effects to make it impossible for enemies to escape. Tainted Voltage slows enemies down and pulls down flying enemies. Bionic Hook pulls an enemy (and anyone behind them) in and then knocks them into the air. Trooper’s Fist charges the Winter Soldier forward and then knocks any enemies hit upward, making it a great finisher against anyone running away. All of these abilities automatically reload Winter Soldier’s gun, which only has three bullets, but does a huge amount of damage comparatively.

Winter Soldier is the poster boy for solo carries. His nonstop combo isn’t just a fast way to bring opponents down. His abilities allow him to take enemies out of position, slow them down, and leave them sitting ducks for his attacks. Experienced players can treat Winter Soldier like a melee duelist. Flank the enemy team, charge their weaker teammates, slow the rest of them down, and get out before they have time to react! Even if you don’t score any kills at first, it’s fairly easy to build up your ultimate ability. Kraken Impact lets you dive into enemies and automatically execute them when their health drops below a certain threshold. If you kill an enemy while this ability is active, the cooldown resets for a small window of time, allowing you to Kraken Impact again and repeat the process!

Moon Knight

Unlike other duelists who prefer to focus on individual enemies or single them out, Moon Knight exists to punish enemies who stick close together. His Crescent Darts and Moon Blade ricochet between nearby enemies, forcing enemy teams to spread out. In addition, his Ancient Ankhs act as ricochet points as well, pulling enemies in on placement, and becoming a dangerous trap if left unchecked. Moon Knight’s ultimate ability, Hand of Khonshu, is a relatively tame Area of Effect power that deals damage to anyone in its radius. When used in conjunction with Ankhs and his ricocheting projectiles, Moon Knight can force his enemies into a barrage of damage from which there is no escape.

Moon Knight is less about chasing enemies down and more about controlling the arena. Carefully placing your ankhs around corners or sneaking them in-between your regular attacks will make them more difficult to detect. This allows you to capitalize on your ricochets, and removes the need for accuracy when dealing damage! You can easily carry a team as Moon Knight simply by studying enemy movement. Many of Marvel Rivals’ maps tend to narrow in specific locations where enemy strategists and ranged duelists like to camp out in. Thanks to your ricochets, it’s possible to flush them out or outright kill them from around the corner. Carrying as Moon Knight relies on having good spatial awareness, and knowing where to apply pressure.

Loki

Marvel Rivals’ Strategists aren’t your typical healers. Many of them come equipped with a versatile moveset that allows them to perform actions beyond healing their allies. When it comes to a Strategist who can lock down the arena from afar, look no further than Loki. Just like the trickster god himself, Loki’s abilities are unassuming at first. His doppelgangers attack enemies at a modest rate, his stealth tends to easily break, and he lacks the exciting mobility options other heroes can take advantage of. All of Loki’s utility comes together when he activates his healing ability, Regeneration Domain. This ability creates an area of healing around Loki’s current position and converts incoming damage into healing while allies are standing inside it, but it also creates these healing areas around your doppelgangers as well!

A clever Loki player can surgically insert his illusions into key locations on any map and overturn any team fight. Teammates can run to Loki clones in order for the Loki player to activate his regeneration domain. More aggressive Loki players can plop clones behind enemy lines, their opponents none the wiser. When his ult is active, Loki can shapeshift into nearby heroes with a fully charged ultimate ability. The best part is: he doesn’t need a lot of help to do any of it. Loki is at his best when he’s hanging back, setting up traps, and supplying his team with incredible support. This combination of chaos and wit make Loki an excellent choice if you’re trying to single-handedly carry your team to victory.

Find Your Carry

You might have noticed a couple of choices listed aren’t duelists. Marvel Rivals’ role categorization isn’t exactly a hard science, which makes it easy to figure out which character out of the roster of Heroes could be the best solo carry character for you. Some Strategists can lay down serious damage. Half of the Vanguard roster is about risk-taking. Duelists can be tricky to eliminate! All in all, the best solo carry you can choose is the hero you’re most comfortable playing. Familiarity and practice can turn any hero into the spearhead of the operation. If you’re just starting out, the above options will earn you more MVP awards than you know what to do with. While you’re trying out new heroes, you might as well collect free skins for them!
