Fortnite has some great new quality-of-life features that launched with the release of Chapter 6 Season 1. If you are anything like me and get annoyed with editing builds with a controller, the new Simple Edit feature might be for you. You can use Simple Edit in Fortnite to make editing existing build objects so much smoother and faster.
How Simple Edit Works in Fortnite
Simple Edit is one of the best new additions to battle royale. If you don’t like building because of how annoying it is to edit on the fly like me, this is for you. Simple Edit lets you instantly edit various building structures you make to make windows, openings, doors, and so on. Instead of having to select individual squares and waste time that way, you just edit.
What you want to do is go into build mode. For controller players, this is by pressing the B (Switch and Xbox) or X button (PlayStation). Then you look at something you built already and hold down B while looking at it. The square you are looking at will instantly edit. This could be removing the square to make a window in a wall or a hole in a ramp, and so on. If you hold B again while looking at that square, it will reset that square back to normal.
How to Enable or Disable Simple Edit
While Simple Edit is incredible in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1, it is not on by default. You have to manually enable Simple Edit if you want to use it. How you do this is by opening up the main menu and navigating to settings. From here, you want to pick the “Game” tab and then the “Building” section under it.
Here, you will want to scroll down to look for Simple Edit and enable it there. Simple Edit is a bit tricky to use at first, especially if you are used to editing the normal way. But once you get accustomed to it, it is painless and so fast. I would argue it is the equivalent of when fast building was added to Fortnite and will likely be a game-changer for building in the future.
Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 is available right now for Android, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
