Best Crops For Spring In Fields Of Mistria (Ranked)

Farming in Fields of Mistria is the quickest way to make large sums of tesserae, Mistria’s form of currency. Crop selection rotates from season to season. Savvy players need to stay on top of when and what they’re planting every season to avoid losing money. But not all crops are the same. The time it takes for them to grow, the cost of their seeds, and the amount you can sell them for all vary. Spring is the first season you’ll encounter in Fields of Mistria, and serves as an introduction to this aspect of the game. If you want to maximize your output during the first season of the year, you’re going to want to focus on the best crops. Here are the best crops for Spring in Fields of Mistria, ranked in order.

3. Potatoes/Carrots

New players might be tempted to spend as much money as possible on a bulk purchase of Turnips. Instead, why not pay the extra cost to plant some potatoes instead? For only 15 more tesserae at 40 per seed, potatoes sell for 75 tesserae, 35 more than Turnips. At the cost of two extra days of growing, you stand to make a much bigger profit this way. What’s more, shipping your first potato will unlock the “Baked Potato” recipe. This recipe only requires a single potato, and some in-game time. You can then sell your baked potato for 80 tesserae! Eventually, your work in restoring the town will unlock carrot seeds. Carrots are identical to potatoes in every way, but sell for 80 tesserae. That’s the same profit of a baked potato without losing in-game time cooking. Once you’ve unlocked them, switch your potato production to carrots instead. Either way, these crops are the better early-game option for players looking to get a headstart on farming.

2. Cabbage

A good intermediate option for Spring crops is the Cabbage. Cabbage seeds can be purchased at the general store for 70 tesserae. Conveniently, your first potato harvest should cover the cost of a decently sized cabbage patch! It may seem like the nine days of growth required to harvest cabbage aren’t worth the investment, but they most definitely are. Cabbage sells for 180 tesserae, averaging out to about 12 tesserae per day of profit while growing them. This is double the amount per day yielded by potatoes and carrots! Because the best crop for Spring has a hefty price tag, it’s a good idea to farm Cabbage early-on until you build a cushy amount of savings.

1. Strawberries/Peas

By far the best crops to plant in the Sprinng are Strawberries and Peas. These two are the only Spring crops that can produce multiple harvests off of one seed. Planting them on the first day of the season will net you eight harvests! To sweeten the deal, peas and strawberries reach maturity in less time than both cabbages and potatoes as well. The challenge to using these crops is their price tag. It’s 300 tesserae per seed. But when each strawberry is worth 125 tesserae, you’ll make your money back in due time. You won’t have access to peas until you make progress repairing Mistria, but once you do replace your strawberries. Peas sell for 10 tesserae more, making them objectively better.

Ultimately, you can pick whichever crops you want. Tesserae isn’t too hard to scrounge together in Fields of Mistria. If you want to make the most of your farming, these are the best crops for Spring. Once you start generating a surplus of crops, it might be a good idea to convert some into cooked items!
