How to Get a Barn in Fields of Mistria

Purchasing new buildings for your farm in Fields of Mistria is a big step towards expanding its capabilities. In most other farming RPGs, buying things like a chicken coop is as simple as paying a visit to the carpenter. Fields of Mistria requires a few extra steps out of you before you can do so. This includes purchasing and building a barn in order to start owning cows. The barn is a useful building, but it’s locked behind those prerequisites. Here’s how to get a barn in Fields of Mistria.

How to Get a Barn in Fields of Mistria

In order to make barns available for purchase, you’ll first have to complete the “Repair the Mill” main quest. If you haven’t come across this quest yet, don’t worry. Advance through whatever main quests you’re currently on, and eventually you’ll be asked to repair the town’s grain mill. Repairing the mill only requires a few simple resources you can gather quickly from the mines and the surrounding area. Repairing the mill is necessary in order to have a way to make animal feed for your future livestock. Once it’s repaired, Hayden will invite you to his house, give a brief explanation on how to raise animals, and make them available for purchase from his ranch.

With that out of the way, you can head over to the Carpenter’s Shop in The Eastern Road area. From your farm, head North to the city center, and leave East from the fountain to the next zone. Head up past the large sign you can see from the entrance of this area, and into Ryis and Landen’s home. Once inside, walk to the right and interact with the shop sign to pull up the carpenter shop menu. Click the “Shop” button, and navigate through the tabs of the shop until you land on the small red house icon. This is where you’ll find the barn and coop blueprints for purchase.

How to Build a Barn in Fields of Mistria

A small barn blueprint costs 2000 tesserae. To build it you’ll need 100 wood and 75 stone. Building blueprints require the land you place them on to be cleared. Make sure to remove any stones, wood, or grass from the desired area. Once you set down the blueprint, a workspace will appear with a chest placed in front. You can place your building materials inside this chest, and then interact with the work bench to the left of it. From this menu, select “Build,” name the barn whatever you’d like, and voila! Your barn is now ready to house some animals. If you’re unhappy with the placement, you can always interact with the sign to the right of the barn door, and select “Remove.” This will refund all your materials, the blueprint, and poof the barn out of existence.
