How to Move Furniture and Buildings in Fields of Mistria

Like most farming life sims, Fields of Mistria offers players the opportunity to adorn their homes with anything ranging from cozy beds, to warm rugs, to lovely house plants. Players can decorate their farms with cute fountains, mysterious statues, or build a life-sized chess board. Being able to organize and outline the layout of your farm with fencing and floor tiles is key when placing down new buildings and more practical furnishings like the crafting station. Part of Mistria’s charm is being able to redecorate at a whim. Whether you need to make space for something new, or just fancy a change in scenery, here’s how to move furniture and buildings in Fields of Mistria.  

How to Move Furniture in Fields of Mistria

If you need to rearrange your furniture items in Fields of Mistria, the process is fairly simple. You’re going to need a pickaxe on-hand. If you don’t have one, you can always buy one from March and Olric at their smithy in town. With pickaxe in-hand, walk up to the object you’d like to move, and swing at it. It should revert back into an item with a pop, and you can then put it into your inventory. Once it’s back in your inventory, you can select it and place it down where you’d like. Be careful if you’re planning on moving any chests. Swinging your pickaxe at a chest will pop it back into an item pick-up, but the items inside will also explode onto the ground! Make sure you have enough inventory space to pick everything up, or get ready to spend some time tidying.

How to Move Buildings in Fields of Mistria

Moving buildings in Fields of Mistria after you’ve already placed them down is a bit more complicated than moving furniture- but not by much! If you’ve changed your mind about where you want your barn or chicken coop to be, don’t fret. On the right side of the entrance to these buildings is a small sign you can interact with. Usually this is for changing the building’s name, and the tooltip in the lower-left corner of your screen will read “rename building.” However, there should be a second “remove” option when interacting with the sign. Selecting this will return the building blueprint and all the materials you used to build it back into item pick-ups you can add to your inventory! From there, you just need to select the blueprint from your inventory, and place it down at your desired location.

Keep in mind, you will need to rebuild the building. Hold onto the materials you were refunded when you picked the building back up! Be aware that buildings in Fields of Mistria cannot be removed from the area if they are housing any animals. To get around this, you’ll have to place them in daycare or sell them. Both of these can be done at Sweetwater Farm. From your farm, head left into the next area, go through the ranch gate, and enter the central building. There should be a sign you can interact with at the front to do either option. Once you’ve stored or sold your animals, head back to the building you want to move and interact with its renaming sign. The “remove” button should be available now.
