Square Enix announced that people visiting Eastern Thanalan in FFXIV who decide to go fishing or walking on water will experience some issues after patch 7.1. A known problem came up after the update, and it won’t be fixed until the 7.11 patch is released. There’s no set release date for it yet, however.
After the 7.1 FFXIV patch dropped, players reported issues when fishing in Eastern Thanalan. Basically, that it was impossible to do so. Square Enix came back with an explanation on November 13, 2024. A collision detection issue is keeping people from fishing or walking on water in that region. As the team is aware of the problem and the cause, the graphics data update will remedy the issue and restore access to those fishing spots in the next patch.
There are four places where we can go fishing in Eastern Thanalan in FFXIV. These are The Burning Wall, North Drybone, South Drybone, and Yugr’am River. They are all freshwater locations. The two Drybone locations are lower level ones for those at 15 or higher. Some of them are home to certain types of fish you can’t get anywhere else in FFXIV, such as the Sundisc or Trader Eel, and you can only get the Gigantpole Minion from The Burning Wall location.
Final Fantasy XIV is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and patch 7.1 is live.Â
