How to Be a Successful Matchmaker in Great God Grove

During your attempts to revive the theatre show in HobbyHoo in Great God Grove, you will find yourself becoming a matchmaker at a singles night. You must match everyone to their ideal partner in order to progress, and some of the choices are a little tricky to figure out.

How to Enter the Singles Club

In order to become a matchmaker, you’ll first need to enter the singles club. Problem is, it’s blocked by a sleeping bouncer, and there doesn’t seem to be much that can get rid of him.

Despite the presence of a lot of shouted lines you can use on him, none of them work. In order to find the right line, head back to the stage and set the lighting to the blue setting (the left option). After the brief performance, speak to Styella to get her to repeat her lines. When she says the line saying “Open Yoah Eyes!” grab it, because this is what you need.

Now head back to the bouncer, use the line and he will finally open his eyes as requested. Now you can enter the club and start playing matchmaker.

However, you’ll need to take an additional step. Speak to Hersha at the side of the stage and she’ll inform you that they need a purple lightbulb. Take this line to the club and shoot it at Patience at the bar. She’ll let you know you can have the bulb if you become the matchmaker, and your quest begins.

How to Complete the First Three Matchmaker Requests in Great God Grove

The matchmaker requests in Great God Grove need to be completed in a specific order. Speaking to the three patrons, they reveal the order their requests need to be completed. Your first target is Robart, in the top left, followed by Sheela, leaning on the barrel in the lower part of the bar and finally it’s Mina in the top right. Capochin is also here, but you can safely ignore him as he’s just being the usual Bizzyboy distraction.

Robart’s request is for a “big beefcake kinda guy” and you may already be able to figure this one out based on how you got in here. Simply take his request and deliver it to the bouncer outside, then return with his answer. That’s it.

Sheela’s request is more unusual, as they’re looking for someone too busy to spend time with them. This one takes a bit more thought, but there is one character who complains about being overworked: Hersha. Deliver Sheela’s request to her by the stage and return with her response.

Now it’s Mina’s turn. She wants a “bookish boy with a big squishy cuddle-body” which is a request without an immediately obvious answer. In fact, you may speak to every person in town and conclude that no one meets the criteria. This is true, as you’re not looking for a person, but a god. Go deliver her request to Click Clack next door and deliver his response.

How to Complete the Matchmaker Quest in Great God Grove

Once you’ve completed the three matchmaker requests in Great God Grove, go and speak to Patience and she will have one final request. She wants to find her match too and wants someone with good listening skills.

For this request, you need to do some lateral thinking. Which character in the game is good at listening to what people have to say? Who is showing the most interest in the people around them? That’s right, it’s you! But you can’t deliver a request to yourself, so this requires a different approach.

Go back to the stage and set the lighting to yellow, then speak to Styella again. Her key line is “It jewst makes me smile ta spend time with yew” so grab it. Take it back to Patience and deliver it as your response to her request. She’ll happily hand over the bulb and you can continue the show.

Great God Grove is out now for PC, Switch and Xbox Series X/S.
