One of the big appeals behind handheld gaming PCs like the Steam Deck is getting to play AAA games absolutely anywhere, and the Lenovo Legion Go specs mean it’s possible to handle a lot of major titles. It’s great at keeping up with things, basically. There are a few games in particular I’d recommend after trying them on different settings. So if you’re just getting set up with one, especially since places like Amazon and Best Buy have been putting them on sale, these are some options.
Table of contents
Apex Legends
So Apex Legends is a great game to go through on the Lenovo Legion Go, since you can go ahead and play it for free. If you don’t completely appreciate how it works on the handheld gaming PC, you can move on. I found it worked fine as-is and didn’t do any additional tweaking on my end, but then I’m more casual and not trying to really work my way up the ranks. With some adjustments, you could probably have a really good time.
Baldur’s Gate 3
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game people on the Steam Deck often turn to, thanks to the hours of your life you can lose playing it, and it’s also one of the best games you can play on your Lenovo Legion Go. Now, in my case I did use Quick Setup and the in-game menu to make some adjustments. Especially as you get into Act 3. But it’s a fantastic RPG with a lot of replayability.
Civilization VI
Civilization VI is one where it can be dangerous for two reasons. One is that some of the text can be pretty tiny on the Lenovo Legion Go. So it can be a hard-to-read game. But it’s even more dangerous due to this being a one-more-turn title. Do you know how many more turns you can take when you can take the device you’re playing it on anywhere? Fortunately, the battery life might finally give you a chance to sleep.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is one that might not be one of the best Lenovo Legion Go games, but it is playable there, enjoyable on the handheld gaming PC, and quite new! I noticed some framerate dips myself, and the first time I played it took a while to deal with the shaders getting set up. But also, I noticed adjusting the in-game settings helped and make it a much more pleasant experience.
Fallout 3
Okay, so, I don’t own the PC version of Fallout 4 and, as such, can’t tell you how it runs on a Lenovo Legion Go. But I do own Fallout 3, and I’ve been having the best time playing it here. As you’d expect, given its age, the Lenovo Legion Go handles this AAA game quite well, and can even tackle it at its best.
Final Fantasy XIV
Hey! You can play an MMORPG on the go! FFXIV works really well on a Lenovo Legion Go, and that really surprised me given this is a AAA that relies on that always-online connection, quick responses, and sometimes tons of text! It runs well on it. It’s clear and easy to see. As long as I was in a place with stable internet, I didn’t feel like I’d let people down during raids. It’s a fun option for playing.
Genshin Impact
In all honestly, every HoYoVerse game I’ve thrown at the Lenovo Legion Go worked great on the handheld gaming PC, but Genshin Impactis the one I had the best time with. There’s something about its nature. It looks gorgeous as I explore the world of Teyvat. Plus, unlike Zenless Zone Zero or Honkai Impact 3rd, it doesn’t feel like it relies as heavily on combat combos, so the built-in controllers are comfortable to use.
Grand Theft Auto V
Even given its age, Grand Theft Auto Vis still an amazing draw, and it works quite well on the Lenovo Legion Go if you want a AAA game to play. The story is lengthy, and the multiple perspectives allows for a lot of diversity. The recreation of the city means you can spend hours doing whatever you want instead of following the story. It’s become a classic, and that makes it a perfect fit here.
Metaphor: ReFantazio
So with Metaphor: ReFantazio, I’m going to first recommend you pick up the demo. There have been some patches that fix some PC issues, and you may want to double check to see if you’ll be fine with it. If you do, you’ll discover one of the best JRPGs released this year. Enjoy Persona? You’ll love Metaphor.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon
The Yakuza games run really well on the Lenovo Legion Go, but since we could use a few more JRPGs to round out my AAA game recommendations here, I’m suggesting Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Ichiban is a fantastic new protagonist. I love the battle system. It runs incredibly well on the handheld gaming PC with no issues. It’s just a perfect one to pick up and play.
