Enoch, the main character in El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron, can use three kinds of weapons when he fights fallen angels. Weapons have been corrupted with bloodlust when they fell to Earth, so Enoch has to purify them before he can equip them.
We’ll start with the weapon seen most often in El Shaddai screenshots, The Arch. Enoch can use this sacrosanct blade to slash foes and… as a glider. Each weapon has two functions, the Arch lets him glide after jumping.
Gale is a speedy weapon that let’s Enoch attack from a distance. You can also use Gale to set up quick counterattacks and dash through (or towards) enemies.
Enoch deal crushing blows with the Veil, which doubles as a shield.
All three weapons have a rocks-paper-scissors relationship. Gale, for example, is effective against enemies who can’t be damaged by the Arch, but is ineffective against an enemy with a Veil, presumably because they can block it. You want to use the Arch against Veil enemies since Ignition made Enoch’s sword-like weapon strong against their shield/glove combo.
El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron comes out in Japan this spring. A release date for the West has not been announced at this time.
