1.6 Stardew Valley Mobile Patch Adds Experimental Multiplayer

Eric “Concerned Ape” Barone announced that it is possible for mobile Stardew Valley players to try out experimental multiplayer if they updated to the 1.6 version of the game. However, it is in development and not guaranteed to work.

Accessing the 1.6 Stardew Valley experimental mobile multiplayer involves entering a cheat code of sorts. The official site included an official screenshot with instructions. Essentially, we would need to tap the four leaves on the title screen in order, then tap the ? button on the main menu screen.

Here are the official instructions, alongside the official image, to unlock the co-op main menu option.

“Using the guide below, tap the leaves in this order:  ↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← →   … Then press the “?” button in the bottom right corner of the screen. (Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, ? )”

You could also think of this as tapping the upper right leaf twice, the lower left leaf twice, the upper left leaf, the lower right leaf, the upper left leaf, the lower left leaf, and the question block.

The host needs to have a farm and cabins ready, as well as get their IP address from their device in the Wi-Fi/Internet settings section for the other players. The other mobile players, after entering the cheat code, need to enter the IP as well. Everyone will need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi router or hotspot. Concerned Ape also cautioned against using a cell phone network. Those on mobile devices would be able to connect to other mobile players or a PC.

As a reminder, the 1.6 series of updates for Stardew Valley increased the multiplayer cap on platforms that support it. Up to eight people can now play together.

Stardew Valley is available for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PCs, mobile devices, and the PlayStation Vita.
