How to Get to Ginger Island in Stardew Valley

Ginger Island is one of the most unique areas in Stardew Valley. This entire island is pretty large and contains many different facilities like the Beach Resort and more. But it takes a bit of effort to unlock Ginger Island in the first place. It is worth doing, though, to gain access to quite a lot of additional content.

How to Go to Ginger Island in Stardew Valley

There is only one way to go to Ginger Island initially and that is with the help of Willy. The old fisherman has a boat within his Fish Shop that players are able to use to travel across the sea and access Ginger Island. Ginger Island itself is part of an archipelago of islands known as the Fern Islands and it is a massive location worth visiting.

However, the problem with going to Ginger Island the first time is players must first unlock this feature. To do this, players have to repair Willy’s boat inside of the Fish Shop. Doing so will allow players to pay 1,000g to take a trip to Ginger Island each day. The return trip is included in that ticket price.

How to Repair Willy’s Boat in Stardew Valley

The main goal players should have with Ginger Island in Stardew Valley is to repair Willy’s boat. You can start doing this as early as Summer 2 in the first year of your farm. However, there are some prerequisites you still must meet before you can start this. You need to first complete the Joja Warehouse or do all of the Community Center Bundles.

Once these are done, Willy will send you a letter. At this point, you can then collect the following materials to repair Willy’s boat:

  • 5 Battery Packs
  • 5 Iridium Bars
  • 200 Hardwood

Hardwood is pretty easy to get from trees like Mahogany Trees and large stumps with a Steel Axe. Iridium Bars require you to find Iridium Ore and then take it along with some Coal to a Furnace. Finally, Battery Packs require you to use a Lightning Rod or Solar Panel to collect. Once you have all of these, you’ll be able to repair Willy’s boat and start taking trips to Ginger Island.

Stardew Valley is available right now for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
