Dragon Age: The Veilguard has some tough choices for players to make, including very early into the main story. One of the earlier quests has players go to the Dalish village of D’Meta Crossing. In there, you encounter the mayor and have the chance to let him live or die in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Which choice you should you make?
D’Meta Crossing Mayor Choices, Explained
I won’t spoil the main parts of this particular quest but there comes an early story quest when you first meet your companion, Bellara, where you travel to the D’Meta Crossing Dalish town. Here, you need to investigate and it eventually leads you to the mayor of the town. This guy is in a precarious situation and you can save him or leave him to die.
Note that I will spoil some of what happens after these decisions. If you save the mayor, Neve will be happy and you’ll up your relationship with her, but Bellara’s bond will go down. The opposite happens if you leave him to die. In addition, though, you get a new side quest if you leave the mayor to die that seemingly doesn’t occur otherwise.
Should You Save the Mayor in Dragon Age: The Veilguard?
In my opinion, the decision to save the mayor or leave him to die is one of the only choices in Dragon Age: The Veilguard that has a clear right answer. To each their own, of course, but leaving him to die seems to be the correct answer most of the time. After all, it offers a new side quest later on in the game regarding the Dalish you seemingly won’t encounter otherwise.
The only reason you should save the mayor is if you are role-playing as that kind of altruistic hero or you want to please Neve. Note that you are absolutely able to still romance Neve if you pick the other option. It is super easy to romance characters in this latest BioWare RPG so going against her won’t lock you out of that option.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is available right now for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
