So you went with a Lenovo Legion Go when considering a handheld gaming PC or Steam Deck purchase. It’s a solid choice, given its capabilities. Not to mention, we’re seeing it go on sale ahead of the 2024 shopping season at places like Amazon and Best Buy (The 512GB model is $499 instead of $699.99 at both stores, with the official Lenovo site highlighting the price drop.) Since you’ll want to get gaming on it as soon as possible, these are the stores you need to get set up on it immediately.
Immediately install Steam on a Lenovo Legion Go!
While the Lenovo Legion Go is not a Steam Deck, it basically acts like one the second you download Steam and enter Big Picture Mode. Installing it on the handheld gaming PC is incredibly easy. Download the executable and go. You’re golden. It immediately adapts to the controllers. It’s the first thing you should do after getting the device unpacked.
Make sure you grab Epic Games Store too for your Lenovo Legion Go too!
While Epic Games Store isn’t going to look as pretty on the Lenovo Legion Go as Steam does with Big Picture Mode, it’s absolutely fine. Plus, you should have a nice game library filled with compatible titles if you’ve been claiming the weekly free games from the service every Thursday. Like Steam, it is as simple as going to the official site and grabbing the download file. I had no issues installing and navigating it, and I doubt you will either.
GOG Galaxy is something to consider.
Like Epic Games Store, GOG Galaxy isn’t going to look the absolute prettiest on a Lenovo Legion Go as Steam. It’s designed with a larger monitor in mind. But again, it works very well once installed, and getting it done is easy. Plus, considering the compatibility strives with this storefront, it’s reassuring to know how easy it will be to get it all working together once you grab it from the site and set it up. Again, it’s fairly effortless and a swift process.Â
If you use Itch.io, that’d be a wise one to grab.
Itch.io is one of those storefronts that maybe you don’t use all that often. If you really get into indie games though, odds are you’re at least aware of it. And if you support charitable bundles for good causes, I guarantee you have. So… getting the app could be smart! I will note that this was the only install that was a bit weird for me during the setup process. I had to actually redownload the launcher, because the first install didn’t actually want to work for some reason. But on the second try, I made it work and it was fine.
The HoYoPlay launcher isn’t a bad idea for the Lenovo Legion Go, honestly.
So when it comes to HoYoVerse free-to-play games, you aren’t just downloading one title. You download the HoYoPlay launcher, then get the game from that. Given the range of the free-to-play titles and how well they all work on the Lenovo Legion Go, I suggest grabbing HoYoPlay too. Install Genshin Impact if you want an open-world, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sort of RPG experience. Pick up Honkai: Star Rail if you’d like another turn-based RPG. Honkai Impact 3rd and Zenless Zone Zero are good if you want beat’em up experiences where you’re pretty much just in it for the fight.Â
