Nintendo didn’t specify what the GameCube controller and its adapter issues were, other than to say the console system would sometimes be unable to recognize it when connected to the console. Aside from the GameCube controller issues, the other major fix the latest Switch update introduces relates to some network functions, such as downloading during sleep mode, not working as expected.

Additionally, the latest patch update introduces “general system stability improvements” as expected. You can read the full English patch notes for the Nintendo Switch version 19.0.1 update from the Nintendo America customer support website.

The previous major firmware update for the Nintendo Switch system was version 18.1.0, released on June 10, 2024. Version 18.1.0 removed Twitter (now X) integration from the Switch console. In addition to Nintendo, Sony also removed Twitter support from the PS4 and PS5 console systems on November 13, 2023.

The Nintendo Switch is available worldwide, and the firmware patch updating the console to version 19.0.1 is now live worldwide.
