Best COD BO6 Multiplayer Maps Worth Playing

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a grand return for Treyarch as the lead developer for the series. Unfortunately, despite having a whopping 16 brand new maps, almost all of them are horrid. Below are the five most decent maps worth competing on. These are the best COD BO6 multiplayer maps that I feel are worth playing in terms of things like design and game mode potential.

1. Vault

I wasn’t a huge fan of the maps at launch in games like Vanguard and MW3, but Black Ops 6 easily takes the cake for the worst set of launch maps in a long time. Vault is the one exception to this, being a truly great map in the midst of a bunch of, at best, decent ones. It is colorful, bright, and fun to look at.

But, above all else, it is symmetrical and fun to explore. The map makes sense, including spawns most of the time, and the neat little touches like the indoor section in the middle and the titular vault on the bottom of the map helps add necessary flavor and strategy. This is the sole map I enjoy in all game modes.

2. Lowtown

Lowtown is my second-favorite map in BO6 thus far. It is one of the more complex and frustrating maps at first, with the rampant amounts of water everywhere. But once you learn the routes and spawns, it is arguably the most enjoyable to play. Zipping around the map across boats and through destroyed buildings makes one of the most cinematic and interesting maps in a while.

3. Skyline

Skyline is the type of map many people love for understandable reasons. It is a looker, taking place on top of a luxurious penthouse. There are some intricacies to this map, including the pool, bar room, upstairs, and even the elevator shaft. Its size is a bit smaller than I like but it is one of the few memorable maps in this game.

4. Protocol

The map for the training course of multiplayer is surprisingly one of the better ones. It gives off some Vanguard and World War II vibes, with some great lanes to move down. But it also has some surprising complexity to it, such as the underground bunker part and the upstairs sniper spots. Though its visuals are a bit bland, it makes up for that in its solid layout.

5. Payback

One of the best BO6 multiplayer maps for Search & Destroy is Payback. The stunning map takes place in the woods at a mansion that acts as the Safehouse in the campaign. It gives off classic Estate vibes but leveled out and actually making sense. It is a bit too small for most modes, but it is a premier example of a proper SND map with the bomb placements and pace.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is available right now for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
