How to Unlock the Good Ending in Slay the Princess: The Pristine Cut

One of the best aspects of Slay the Princess: The Pristine Cut is the plethora of endings you can achieve. Some are very sinister, whereas others are far more optimistic in their tone. The “Good” Ending is probably the easiest one to earn out of the bunch, but it will require you to perform a specific chain of actions. If not, you will immediately be blocked out from this ending. As always, with this type of guide, there will be spoilers to the main game ahead, so we recommend playing through Slay the Princess: The Pristine Cut at least once before looking at how to achieve certain endings.

How do I unlock the “Good” Ending in Slay the Princess: The Pristine Cut?

Your goal for this ending is to be a loyal subordinate to the narrator and listen to everything he says to receive the reward for slaying the princess. Hypothetically, if you skip past all the dialogue, you could earn The “Good” Ending within a few minutes. Before attempting this, ensure you’re on Chapter One on your save file. If you are on any other chapter than this, The Shifting Mound will halt you in your tracks, which you obviously don’t want to happen.

When you begin Chapter One, you will want to head to the cabin’s basement, where the princess is being imprisoned. You can either talk to the narrator for a bit or just head straight to the cabin by picking:

  • Silently continue to the cabin
  • Proceed into the cabin

While in the cabin, you’ll want to grab the blade on the wooden desk on the right-hand side of the room. This is the instrument you are going to use to plunge the princess to her death, so it’s essential to pick this up. Afterwards, head down to the basement to meet the princess.

  • Enter the basement

When you head down the basement, you will not want to utter a single word to the princess, as fraternising with the enemy is against the narrator’s plan. Before you kill the princess, make sure to take a step forward and then lunge the blade into her chest. After you have successfully stabbed her and she is bleeding out on the floor, do not check for her pulse and then accept the narrator’s reward. So, the options you are going to select for this section are:

  • Continue down the stairs
  • Steel your nerves and step forward
  • Slay the princess
  • Of course it is. She’s dead.
  • Leave

After killing the princess, you and the cabin will be transported to a time and space away from everyone else. The narrator will console you and reiterate that killing her was a good deed because you saved the world, and you will be happy in this new vacant space. The Voice of the Hero will question the authenticity of this statement and ask if you will truly be satisfied staying in this place forever, which you will need to oppose.

  • Oh. Okay
  • (Explore) Didn’t you hear The Narrator? I’m happy. We’re happy.
  • No, we’re happy. I’m sure of it.

If you follow all the steps above correctly, you will be rewarded with a humourous pencil drawing that looks like a child could have drawn and will earn the achievement of The “Good” Ending. You will then be brought back to the title screen of Slay the Princess: The Pristine Cut, ready to take on another route.

Slay the Princess: The Pristine Cut is available on the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
