How to Unlock Glimmer Skills in Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven opts for a unique progression system for characters. Rather than traditional levels, players simply raise stats and unlock skills as they fight more battles. This can end up pretty confusing, though. To help, here is how to unlock new skills through the Glimmer system in Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven.

How to Unlock New Skills for Party Members

In most traditional JRPGs, you get new skills and spells through leveling up the character. However, that isn’t the case here. Traditional levels for characters don’t exist outside of weapons and spell types. Instead, what players do to unlock new skills is to continue doing more and more turn-based battles in the world.

The more a character fights in battle with certain attacks and moves, the higher the chance of them learning a new skill. If you ever played a game in the past like Final Fantasy II, it is sort of like that system. The system that this game uses is the Glimmer system for teaching new skills to party members.

How the Glimmer Skills Work in Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven

Glimmer is how players unlock new skills for their characters in Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven. Glimmer is the little lightbulb that now appears next to attacks and skills players can use for their characters in fights. If you see this lightbulb, it means there is a new skill the character can learn if they use that move right now.

The catch is it is completely random. You might learn a new skill mid-battle the next time you use that weapon to attack. Or you might use it 20 times before the new skill appears. It is random but I highly recommend prioritizing attacks that have a lightbulb next to them to learn skills faster. You can also check possible new Glimmer skills when looking at the techniques and spells for characters in the main menu to help better plan for party member progression.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is now available for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC.
