For starters, if you had pre-registered for Neko Atsume 2 prior to its October 20, 2024 release, then the app store should have automatically installed the game onto your device. If not though, then you can install it via the App Store or Google Play. You can look it up under Neko Atsume 2, though the localized title of Kitty Collector appears in the name when you see it in the Google Play Store.

As this game is a mobile one, you can only get it for your smartphone or tablet. Based on anecdotes from online communities, it seems that programs like Bluestacks couldn’t run the first game properly for some people. So far, the sequel is not available on those programs either. This likely has to do with the basic gameplay loop, which requires you exiting the game in order for it to populate your yard with cats. Unless something changes in the future, you can really only install and play it on mobile devices.

If you do have it on a mobile device, playing is simple. Open the app. If cats are around, tap them to take photos to add to your virtual journal. Set out fresh food for them. Also, if you have enough fish and there is room in your area, you can purchase new toys, beds, or accessories and place them in order to lure more cats. Close the app. Then, return in 10 minutes or more to see if new cats appeared.
