How to Pick a New Emperor in the Inheritance System in Romancing SaGa 2

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is one of the most complex JRPGs from the 1990s and its remake is no different. One of the defining features of this title is the ability to play through generations and multiple different rulers. To do this, players have to pick a new emperor through the Inheritance System in Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven.

How to Pick a New Emperor in Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven

You will have to pick a new emperor for the land pretty frequently in this JRPG. As such, it is not worth getting too attached to certain characters as they will likely leave soon. There are a couple of different ways in which you will need to pick a successor for the throne. The first is at certain story elements. Once the player reaches a certain point in the story, they may have to switch out to the next generation and successor.

The other way players have to pick a new emperor is if the current one dies permanently. This can happen if their LP reaches zero. LP goes down by one point each time their HP falls to zero in battle. Once it is time for a new emperor, players will be able to pick from a list of potential characters for the next in line. They will have varying classes and appearances.

How the Inheritance System Works in Romancing SaGa 2

In addition to being able to pick a new emperor in Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, players also have to deal with the Inheritance System. This system lets the next emperor inherit skills and levels from the previous ruler. How it works is the new ruler will gain all of the skills, levels, and stats from the previous emperor.

For instance, that particular new ruler may not inherently have light spells. However, if the previous ruler had level 10 in light spells, they will also now have that. In addition, they will have access to all of their skills and spells instantly. This is a great feature since it means you can keep using your favorite spells once more with this new character. In addition, every emperor is generally getting stronger and stronger with each new generation, making the game a bit easier in the long run.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is now available for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC.
