One of the most surprising and unique parts about Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is the existence of LP and permadeath. These features set this game apart from other similar titles, including in its own Square Enix JRPG series, as players have to truly be careful about every battle and choice they make.
What Are Life Points and LP in Romancing SaGa 2?
One of the standout features of this JRPG is LP, known as life points. This is a separate status for each character in the party from the HP and BP you already have. In battles, it is above them and can even confuse you into thinking that might be the level for the character. I know that was the case with me at first, but it serves a completely different purpose.
You see, LP is basically like the amount of lives that particular person has. You lose a life point for that specific party member every single time they have their HP reach zero in a battle. They will be back and ready for action after the battle but their LP will also go down by one. For example, it might go from 17 LP to 16 and so on. It is a crucial status to keep up with.
How to Get LP Back
The reason you want to keep up with LP for every character in Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is because it doesn’t restore naturally. In fact, if a character reaches zero with their LP, they will permanently die. You will not be able to access them again in that playthrough. This can even go for the player character emperor.
As such, you will likely want to avoid this from happening as much as possible. Fortunately, it is possible to restore LP but it is extremely rare. You will sometimes stumble upon LP restoration items in treasure chests and as rewards. But these are so rare I don’t even recommend counting on them. Instead, try your best to ensure no one dies. But, at the same time, death is an integral and inevitable part of this JRPG so keep that in mind.
Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is now available for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC.
