How to Level up Fast in Starship Troopers: Extermination

Leveling up is the central method of unlocking new content in Starship Troopers: Extermination. Each of the six available classes has their own set of special perks, and each weapon has its own leveling track for obtaining special modifications and cross-class privileges. Gaining levels in both weapons and classes is the best way to expand your loadout customization. Once you can swap a signature weapon from one class into another, it’s possible to form some interesting builds! But before you can theory craft your way to a powerful setup, you’re going to have to earn a lot of experience. Keep reading along to learn how to level up fast in Starship Troopers: Extermination.

Do the Solo Campaign

Before you thrust yourself into multiplayer missions with a level one class, you should head on over to the solo campaign for a huge experience bonus. The solo campaign of Starship Troopers: Extermination features 20 missions that reward anywhere from 1,000 to 1,500 experience each upon completion. It’s possible to perform these missions with whichever class you’d prefer, and there’s enough experience in the campaign to boost that class by a significant amount. Keep in mind: the solo campaign will only raise your class level, but it’s still a great way to unlock those powerful class perks before joining matches online.

Perform Support Actions

The base building segments of certain missions can be intimidating at first, especially for new players. In order to avoid ruining the blueprints, you might shy away from building any structures of your own. However, creating and repairing structures is an easy way to collect a tiny bit more experience on your missions. Keep an eye on structure integrity during your missions. If a wall is damaged or has collapsed completely, you can repair it for extra experience. Alternatively, you can also resupply turrets with ammo or heal your allies to gain experience as well. On longer missions where things get a lot more hectic, these small increments start to add up.

Extract Successfully

Almost every mission in Starship Troopers: Extermination ends with an extraction phase, where players run to a rendezvous point and board a dropship that will carry them to safety. If you leave in the dropship, you’ll earn a decently sized chunk of bonus experience multiplied by the total number of troopers who made it out alive. Be careful. If you don’t make it to the dropship, you don’t get the experience bonus. If you can extract consistently, you’ll accelerate your level gains effectively. The extraction bonus is a built-in incentive for players to work together during the final phase of every mission. Earning it is going to require a decently-sized group effort, but it’s well worth the hassle in the end.

Farm the Bugs During Extraction

Once you’re safe and sound inside the dropship, it’s time to clear the way for other troopers and get some extra experience in the process. Bugs will continuously assault your squad until the dropship leaves. It’s possible to sit right outside the ship and shoot down enemies from relative comfort for however long you have left on the extraction timer. While this method might hold-up the rest of the team from completing the mission, it’s also a common sight during matches. Don’t be afraid to join in on the free experience- just try not to become a liability in the process!

Choose the Right Missions

Not all missions in Starship Troopers: Extermination are equal. The majority of experience points you earn on missions is directly related to the number of bugs you squish. Naturally, this means you want to pick missions that produce the most bugs. Horde missions, for example, force you to defend a location against a nonstop onslaught of enemies. Missions at Normal and Hard difficulty reward extra experience when beaten, but difficulty directly affects how tough the bugs are. Horde mode may produce lots of bugs, but it’s a slower mission type than “Advance and Secure” or “Arc Defense.” Missions will often have additional challenges in place, denoted by red tags on their listing. These can indicate bugs with higher attack damage, or a greater number of one type of enemy appearing on the mission. Try to pick the missions best suited to your group. They’re refreshed periodically, but you can run through the same mission multiple times as long as it’s listed. Make sure to capitalize on the missions fitting your needs when they show up!

Regardless of how you go about leveling up, incorporating one or two of the tips mentioned above should speed things up for you. Mind your missions, focus on supporting your team and extracting successfully, and take advantage of the dropship’s location for farming bugs. Don’t forget to give yourself a head start by powering through the solo campaign as well! If you’d like to learn more about extraction and how to do it consistently, click here.
