What Is Catherina’s Weakness in Metaphor: ReFantazio

While Catherina is a Follower who you will bond with in Metaphor: ReFantazio, as well as get a sidequest from early on, she’s also a rival candidate to the throne you’ll fight multiple times. In fact, these interactions are how your relationship with her ranks up early on. As such, it’s important to remember what Catherina’s weakness is in Metaphor: ReFantazio.

How do I beat Catherina in Metaphor: ReFantazio?

Basically, when you’re going through different regions as part of the tasks to prove yourself worthy of earning the throne, you’ll occasionally be challenged by a rival who is passing by on their gauntlet runner. You’ll actually see them on the map, so you will know when you’re around. Typically, these events can pop up when on the way to designated campaign-related quests locations.

So the first time you’ll encounter Catherina, it will be after you have your runner and are on your way to go catch Heismay. She’ll catch up with you on the way and, when you square off, will be at level 22 for the first fight. She issues a challenge and won’t take no for an answer. (This will be a recurring theme.) As you encounter her here and in the Brilehaven area three times, her level will increase, so keep in mind she’ll be stronger during each fight.

As Catherina is the origin of the Brawler Archetype, expect lots of physical attacks and Strike damage from her. She won’t resist Pierce or Slash damage at least, which can help early on. However, what’s most notable is in every Metaphor: ReFantazio encounter with Catherina, her most notable weakness will be fire-based attacks. Have someone with Bot or Botra, and you’ll find yourself well prepared for any fight with her.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. There is also a demo available.
