Best Kingdom Hearts Final Fantasy Characters

The Kingdom Hearts series started out as essentially Disney meets Final Fantasy. This is seen even in the fact that several Final Fantasy characters from different iterations of the franchise appear in the various games. Here are the most notable and best Final Fantasy characters to appear in the Kingdom Hearts games.

Best Kingdom Hearts Final Fantasy Characters: Cloud (Final Fantasy VII)

The brooding Cloud Strife is one of the first Final Fantasy characters players meet in Kingdom Hearts. He is also perhaps the most prolific, featuring in four of the titles in some direct way. This leads to an entire story arc revolving around Cloud, his training in the Colosseum, and his journey to defeat his nemesis Sephiroth.

Tidus (Final Fantasy X)

Tidus is one of the childhood friends of Sora and Riku. Despite being from Final Fantasy X, he somehow appears on the Destiny Islands in this series in a younger version of himself. There is a lot to love about the goofy and awkward protagonist, especially as he acts as a fun tutorial for Sora.

Selphie (Final Fantasy VIII)

Selphie is one of the other members of the crossover trio that grows up on the Destiny Islands alongside Sora and Riku. She is perhaps even more notable, though, since she comes from a different game entirely — Final Fantasy VIII — and her lovable outgoing personality shines through. She even gets a significant enough story arc later in the series as a classmate of Kairi’s.

Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII)

The infamous villain of Final Fantasy VII, Sephiroth, is even a boss for Sora to fight in this series. Sephiroth is one of the most challenging foes in both the original Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2. He will truly challenge your knowledge of the game and every mechanic. Plus, prior to Final Fantasy VII Remake, this was one of his best graphical appearances.

Moogles

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the lovable mascots of the Final Fantasy series: the Moogles. Sure, they aren’t as flashy as the other characters on this list. However, they make up for this with being in every single game. In fact, they have the notable role of being the shopkeepers in most titles. This means they are actively involved in the player’s story in every game, being far more essential than most crossover characters.
