When you first meet Dampe and save him from a greedy crow, he will tell you his life story, describing how he spent decades refining his skills in automaton crafting. Dampe will then ask you to help him ignite his fire of inventing once again by grabbing certain items or creatures needed to create automatons. The last Automaton he requests you to assist him with is arguably the best of them all, the Goldfinch Automaton. This will knock out rupees that enemies are carrying, which is a great way to make money in Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.
How do I make the Goldfinch Automaton in LOZ Echoes of Wisdom?
Before making the Goldfinch Automaton, you must create the other five Automaton’s tied with Dampe. After completing all five, the “Rich Get Quick” side-quest will become available. When you finally unlock the “Rich Get Quick” side quest, it will ask you to get two components:
- Crow Echo
- Golden Fan
Hopefully, you will already have the crow echo from when you first encountered Dampe. However, if you didn’t pick it up for whatever reason, you can find a crow east of Hyrule Castle Town on top of a tree. The best method of beating the crow is using another flying echo or a long-ranged creature like a Spear Moblin Lv.2. Here is a screenshot of the exact location where we found the crow.
For the second item, you must win the Golden Fan by completing the first two levels of Mango Rush at the Tough Mango Plant Lab, which is by the Oasis. Mango Rush is a glorified mini-game where you collect as many Tough Mangos as possible within a time limit.
To gain the Golden Fan to make the Goldfinch Automaton, you will need to complete the first two levels of Mango Rush. The best way to win at Mango Rush is by spinning towards the plants and avoiding the thorns, as it will momentarily daze you, making you unable to move. After collecting the necessary components for the Goldfinch Automaton, return to Dampe’s house and summon the crow on the metal plate. To hand over the Golden Fan, you must talk to Dampe and pick the “Get Rich Quick” option. When Dampe has obtained both items, he will create the Goldfinch Automaton for you.
Make sure to talk to Dampe after he has created the Goldfinch Automaton, as he will offer you the Clockwork Bangle for the price of 5 Monster Stones. This accessory will allow you to wind up the clockwork keys even faster, which is worth the exchange if you like using the Automatons.
