Gohma is easily one of the eeriest-looking bosses in the Legend of Zelda franchise, and the creepy crawly is back in the new game as a boss battle. If you’re looking some tips on how to beat Gohma, we’ll tell you the best way to splatter this spider so you can swiftly move on to the next part of the story in Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.
When will I encounter Gohma in Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom?
You will come across Gohma at the end of “A Rift in the Faron Wetlands” storyline quest. To reach this area, ensure you have a Platboom echo, as this will allow you to jump onto the massive trees blocking the pathway to the Faron Wetlands. When you finally reach there, the Deku Scrubs will not permit you to enter the sweet spot, where the rift is, until you gain a membership card. This will lead to a long merry-go-round where you must solve another rift in the Faron Wetlands beforehand.
When you finally reach the Still World of Faron Wetlands, the temple inside the rift has far more puzzling elements than other temples. There are several small boss battles within the Faron Temple, so stack up on some smoothies and improve your Swordfighter equipment at Lueburry’s Home.
Before obtaining the golden key in the Faron Temple, which is how you gain access to Gohma, you will have to fight a side boss battle called Manhandla, a massive plant inhabiting four heads. Think of it like a plant version of a Hydra. You’ll want to summon a solid close-combat echo-like Sword Moblin Lv.3 or Ball-and-Chain Trooper to remove the two orange heads.
For the other two heads, you can adopt one of two approaches. The first one is to use Tri to bind to the head, walk backwards and use an echo to attack the stem. The other way, which is arguably the faster method, is summoning the echo Bombfish and waiting for the blue flower head to eat it. The bombfish will then explode, making Manhandla weak to attacks in Swordsman mode.
How do I beat Gohma?
Before you take on the boss battle with Goham, learn the Electric Keese echo while in Still World of Faron Wetlands, as this echo will be super helpful for the fight.
Gohma has two fighting phases, which he will alternate between. In the first phase, Gohma will climb the wall and throw a bunch of cobwebs onto the ground alongside some eggs. You’ll want to use a fire echo like Ignizol to burn them. Afterwards, Goham will creeply open his one eye and begin a laserbeam attack. Avoid the beam, switch to Swordsman mode, and attack the eye with an arrow.
If you are successful, Gohma will flop onto the ground and be defenceless to incoming aggression. Jump on top of Gohma, and keep attacking the eye in Swordsman mode, preferably with your sword. To deal even more damage, summon an echo like Ball-and-Chain or Darknut Lv.2 while on the creature.
Gohma will regain consciousness and then enter the second phase. She will attempt to attack you with her two front legs. While it’s performing this move, stay away from the creature, and it will eventually get its legs stuck in the ground. While Goham cannot move, summon Electric Keese and aim for the legs with the green emeralds. Use the ZL button on the Switch to lock on to them. If you hit all three in a small window, Goham will get electrocuted and become vulnerable to attacks again. Jump on top of Gohma, turn into Swordsman mode, and unleash a bombardment of assaults.
The spider-like creature will then cycle between both phases until it’s defeated. When you finally slay Gohma, it will leave behind a Piece of Heart.
