Should You Exit the Dam in Starfield Exhuming the Past?

One of the three main story quests in Starfield Shattered Space has you help a great house in House Va’ruun deal with a dam. There is an intense puzzle in the middle of this quest Exhuming the Past and a tough choice to make of whether to exit the dam or remove the interlock in Starfield Shattered Space.

Exhuming the Past Teleportation Experiment Puzzle Solution, Explained

Most of Exhuming the Past is pretty straightforward. Go down some hallways, fight some Phantom Vortex enemies, and read some logs. But there is a very difficult puzzle that happens near the end. You have to finish the Teleportation Experiment by putting the right number on the console to obtain the keycard.

If you examine the nearby computer, you’ll find the number “235.” This may seem like the answer, especially since there are only three possible digits for the solution. However, this is a trick. If you read the instructions, you will know you have to add 100 to compensate for the lower power. As such, the actual puzzle solution for this part is 335. Be sure to input 335 to continue the quest.

Should You Remove the Interlock or Exit the Dam in Starfield Shattered Space?

Once you reach the end of the Starfield Shattered Space Exhuming the Past main story quest, should you remove the interlock or exit the dam? How it works is you can either remove the interlock and essentially finish the quest immediately and get your rewards. But the cost is you will put an end to one of the House Va’ruun villages and pretty much make everyone mad.

On the other hand, you can do the better route and exit the dam. You’ll save everyone and keep everyone happy, but you will have to go back through the entire dam you just went through. It is annoying but I highly recommend exiting the dam for this quest. Only go the other route if you like to be an evil character.

Starfield: Shattered Space is available for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
