There are a ton of side quests in Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, but the Zappy Shipwreck side quest, where you help a sailor save his boat, may pose a challenge as there is a boss battle at the very end. Here, we explain how to start the Zappy Shipwreck side quest, where to find the giant jellyfish that occupies the vessel, and how to beat it.
Where is the Zappy Shipwreck side quest
Before starting the Zappy Shipwreck side quest, you must clear Hyrule Castle from the Still World, part of the main quest line. You will find the sailor for the quest on the west side of the docks in Seesyde Village, standing on a wooden hut built above a boat. A warp location is nearby, so you should be able to get to the area without too much of a problem. Below is a screenshot of the exact location you need to go.
Jump on top of the wooden hut to start talking to the sailor. He will then proceed to tell you he owns a massive ship, and a zappy monster has taken residence on his vessel. You will then volunteer your services to help save the ship.
From where you are, swim southwest, and you will eventually come across a wooden boat. A screenshot of where you need to go is provided. Use the water block echoes to manoeuvre yourself on top of the ship. Bind Tri to the hatch and walk backwards to unlock it.
How to reach the boss battle
You will now need to navigate the vessel and defeat the monsters along the way to reach the Zappy Shipwreck boss battle. Go down the hatch and beat the three monsters in the room. We used Darknut Lv.2 for this, but any long-ranged or close-combat echo should suffice. Break the boxes, and you should see the entrance to the new room on the top right.
Immediately, walk into the next area, which will be littered with monsters. Summon an echo on one of the planks of wood, preferably a long-ranged one like a Boomerang Boarbin Lv.2 and allow them to beat up the monsters. If you are having trouble with the Tektite monster, duplicating that echo is an excellent way to counter it.
On the left, there will be an entrance. Jump onto the boxes and open the chest, which will give you 5 rocktatoes. In the same room, there will be a small pit of water with a hidden entrance. Enter the underwater passage and head down, and you should come across another chest which will give you 50 rupees. Swim left until you come across the fourth glowing seaweed, and swim upwards. There will be a monster on the right. Use an underwater echo like the Bombfish or Chompfin to defeat it. Follow the pathway until you reach the surface.
The new area will have a chest on the top left, giving you five Electro Apples. On the same side of the room, use the water boxes again to levitate yourself and reach the opposite side of the wall. You will then see a colossal fence preventing you from exiting the room. Place four water blocks by the left side of the fence and then bind Tri to the statue. Swim up the water blocks and place the statue on the switch on the left.
There will be a ton of monsters occupying the new location. Use a long-ranged combat echo to clear them out swiftly. By the entrance, there is a crack in the wall. Use the Bombfish to exploit the weakness. In the new room, demolish the boxes and open the chest, giving you a whopping 300 rupees. Return to the previous area, and more boxes will be on the far right. Destroy them, and you will find another chest giving you 20 rupees. From here, head up and exit the room.
How to beat the Zappy Shipwreck boss battle
At first glance, the Zappy Shipwreck boss battle will appear rather elaborate, but there is a reasonably quick way to beat it. The giant jellyfish will have several electro bolts as legs, with smaller jellyfish attached. You will want to defeat all the smaller ones to make the giant jellyfish vulnerable. The best method is to summon several long-ranged echoes and allow them to attack the tiny jellyfish. To speed up this process, bind Tri to a small jellyfish and pull them closer to your echoes. However, the giant jellyfish will also send out big electro balls, which will inflict damage on contact, so make sure to avoid them.
When the giant jellyfish falls on the floor, quickly change into swordsman mode. Try to land as many attacks as possible on the opponent, and repeat this cycle until you slay the umbrella-shaped monster. When defeated, it will leave behind a piece of heart. Head back to the sailor in Seesyde Village docks, and inform him that you have saved the ship. In return, he will give you a fairy bottle.
