Is World of Warcraft Coming to Console?

Ever since its initial release in 2004, World of Warcraft has solely been a PC game. If you want to check out this MMORPG, you need a computer and a subscription. But with Microsoft now owning Activision Blizzard, it may have you wondering if World of Warcraft is coming to console or not in the future.

Will World of Warcraft Come to Console?

Unfortunately, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but World of Warcraft is not coming to console. At least, not anytime soon. There is no official word on any possible port or release of the beloved MMORPG on any other platform at the time of writing this. That said, I wouldn’t give up hope completely just yet.

You see, with the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft in 2023, that opens up the floodgates for a console port to happen. We’ve already seen games like Diablo IV and the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 be available on Game Pass because of this. It stands to reason a console port for this MMO could happen someday down the line, but not quite yet.

How to Play With a Controller in World of Warcraft

While it isn’t possible to play this Blizzard MMO on console right now, like Xbox, not all hope is lost. One of the main reasons some players would like to play WoW on console would be for the controller support there. Fortunately, it is possible to play with controller support on PC but it is going to take jumping through some hoops to make it happen.

In the past, players needed dedicated add-ons to make this happen. However, there is native support now available in the game as well. What you want to do is type “/console gamepadEnable1” into the in-game chat. This will give you access to the settings to bind keys and everything for a controller you hook up to your PC.
