How to Beat Any Fight Easily in Reynatis

Reynatis is an action-oriented RPG centred around the theme of wizards. The combat system in Reynatis is unique and may take an hour or two to get used to. Because of this, some players may find specific battles, especially early on, somewhat tricky. Here, we give a rundown of a cheeky technique that guarantees you will win any fight in Reynatis without too much hassle.

What are suppressed and liberated states?

You will need a basic understanding of the combat system to implement this technique. On surface value, the combat system looks pretty similar to Kingdom Hearts, but the way you execute attacks and evasion is very different.

Throughout the game, there are two states that you can change into at any given time: suppressed and liberated. When you’re in a suppressed state, citizens will not know you’re a wizard (unless they see you in a liberated state), and you will not be able to attack, as you will not have access to your magical abilities. However, when you’re in this state, you can dodge attacks, restoring MP. You can tell if you’re in a suppressed state, as your character will wear something over their head.

In the liberated state, you are basically in your wizard form. You can unleash devastating attacks onto opponents, but your MP will slowly deplete every moment you’re in this form. If your MP entirely runs out, you will be forced back into the suppressed state. You can not dodge attacks when you are using this form.

How to beat any fight easily in Reynatis

The combat system of Reynatis constantly encourages you to change between the two forms, as liberated is offensive, whereas suppressed is defensive. But if you’re not the most comfortable switching between fighting styles during combat, or there is a particular fight you are having trouble with, you can use a technique to get past it.

Go into a suppressed state and avoid incoming aggression using the dodge manoeuvre, quickly replenishing your MP. When your MP is fully maxed out, you can use a move called Burst Liberation, which will slow down time. You will know if your MP is maxed out as the bar will shine yellow. If you’re playing on the Switch, press the L button to activate the move, automatically transforming you into a liberated state and slowing down time. While in the liberated form, attack the enemies until time returns to normal. Go back into the suppressed state, and rinse and repeat this method.

To further increase the effectiveness of this technique, make sure to equip the evade absorption + ability, which you can get in one of wizart graffitis in Shibuchika. This ability will increase your absorption when avoiding attacks.

Although this technique will not give you the best battle score at the end of the fight, it’s not terrible, either. I would get three stars (20% EXP) on average, but this will obviously depend on crucial factors like how many times you switched out characters and how long the match took. I found this method helpful the first time I attempted the 109 entrance fight in Chapter 4, as I was grossly under-levelled and was still getting to grips with the battle mechanics. But this is an excellent technique if you’re struggling with any fight and want to move on to the next part of the story.

Reynatis will come to the PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC in North America and Europe on September 27, 2024, and then in Australia on October 4, 2024.
